This year’s Animate Raleigh came with a unique twist. Originally slated for earlier in the year, the event was pushed to March following the fire at the Raleigh Convention Center. But if anything, the shift only built anticipation—and when the doors finally opened, Animate Raleigh delivered in a massive way.

From start to finish, the weekend felt like a full-scale celebration of anime, gaming, and fandom culture, packed with things to do, people to meet, and moments you did not want to miss.

Cosplay That Stole the Show

Cosplay is always a cornerstone of Animate Raleigh, and this year raised the bar. The creativity on display was incredible—from intricate armor builds to detailed anime recreations and clever crossover concepts.

Whether you were competing, showing off your latest creation, or just admiring the craftsmanship, cosplay was everywhere. It created a visual energy that made every hallway feel alive and every interaction more fun. You did not just attend Animate—you became part of it.

Panels, Guests, and Fan Experiences

The programming schedule was stacked all weekend. Panels covered everything from anime deep dives and voice acting to gaming discussions and fandom culture. There was a constant flow of opportunities to learn something new, laugh with fellow fans, or get insight directly from creators and special guests.

Meetups and fan-driven sessions added another layer, giving communities a place to connect in real life. Whether you were into a specific anime, game franchise, or niche fandom, chances are there was a group of people just as passionate as you ready to hang out and share the experience.

A Massive Exhibit Hall

The exhibit hall was one of the biggest highlights of the event—and it was easy to spend hours there without seeing it all.

Vendors brought a wide range of merchandise, from collectibles and figures to apparel, accessories, and rare finds. Artists filled the space with original work, commissions, and unique pieces you could not get anywhere else. It was the perfect mix of shopping and discovery, where every aisle had something new to catch your eye.

Tattoo Artists and Live Ink

One of the standout features this year was the presence of tattoo artists offering live work on-site. For fans looking to make their love for anime or gaming permanent, this was an unforgettable opportunity.

Watching artists bring designs to life in real time added a completely different kind of energy to the show floor—and for many attendees, it became one of the most memorable parts of the weekend.

After Dark Programming

When the sun went down, Animate Raleigh did not slow down—it leveled up.

After dark programming brought a whole new vibe, with late-night events, parties, and 18+ experiences that gave attendees even more ways to connect and have fun. It added depth to the convention, turning it from a daytime event into a full weekend experience.

Fan Groups and Community Energy

At its core, Animate Raleigh is powered by its community. Fan groups showed up in a big way, bringing organized meetups, themed gatherings, and a strong sense of belonging to the event.

These groups help turn a large convention into something more personal. They create spaces where fans can instantly connect, whether it is your first time attending or you are a longtime regular.

A Weekend That Delivered

Despite the unexpected schedule change, Animate Raleigh did exactly what fans hoped it would—and more. It brought together cosplay, creators, vendors, and community under one roof for a weekend that felt nonstop in the best way possible.

If this year proved anything, it is that Animate Raleigh continues to grow, evolve, and solidify itself as a must-attend event for anime and gaming fans alike.

And if you missed it this time, you will definitely want to be there next year.
