Nintendo literally saved the video game market. After the video game crash of 1983 caused by Atari and the lack of proper licensing from 3rd party developers the market tanked. However, Nintendo’s lock out chip made it so the company had to approve what games were released on their systems. Some of the most iconic games and characters were born in the early days of Nintendo. IGN is an authority on video gaming and we couldn’t think of a better source to list out the 100 top games. So here is IGN’s list of the 100 best NES games of all time.
(From IGN) – How did we pick the games? We had two conditions: they had to be released in the U.S. and they had to be fun. Whether or not the game was a blast to play is how we decided the order of our beloved NES carts – so don’t be surprised if you see an important or influential title below something we loved to play over and over and over again.
